Home Education WA (HEWA) is super excited 🤩 to let you know that we’ve been working with the Commissioner for Children and Young People to give home-educated students the opportunity to participate in their Speaking Out research.
This is the FIRST TIME homeschoolers have been included 🙌 We want homeschoolers to continue to be included, so we strongly encourage you to support your children to participate in either the in-person or online activity, It is so important that our State gets a picture of the health and well being of home educated young people. The information below is directly from the Commissioner’s Officer:
“The Commissioner for Children and Young People WA is inviting home-educated students in WA to participate in the Speaking Out Survey 2021. Through the survey, the Commissioner is asking students from Year 4 to Year 12 across WA for their views on matters that affect their wellbeing.
If your child chooses to take part, they will be asked to complete a 30-minute survey on a tablet. The survey will be completed during a session at the WA Museum Boola Bardip or during an online session (your child may choose). Staff from the Commissioner’s office will provide assistance to your child to complete the survey if required. All of the Commissioners staff have Working with Children Checks."
There are three in-person sessions at the new museum (yay) if you want to visit and meet other homeschoolers, and two online sessions for those that can’t get to the museum, regional folks or anyone who just prefers online. Books are essential:
